Who Can Be an Altar Server:

• Those wishing to serve as altar servers must be registered parishioners of St. Catherine Labouré Parish.
• Altar servers must be in fourth grade or higher. High school or college age student are welcomed.
• If over the age of 18, you must become Safe Environment Compliant.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Altar servers assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of the Mass by carrying the cross, lighting and carrying the processional candles, holding the book and other duties as needed.
• Altar servers help prepare the altar with a deacon, if present. If a deacon is not present the altar servers prepare the altar for the celebrant.
• Altar servers participate in processions during Mass, such as the entrance procession, bringing up the gifts, and the recessional.
•Altar servers must be attentive and responsive to cues from the clergy to ensure the smooth flow of the Mass.
